Social Media and 21st Century Technologies 


OBJECTIVE
You will develop a 2-3 minute presentation on how technology and social media effect engineering.
 
STANDARD
STEM EC -10 - Explore the use of social media and other 21st century technologies and their impact(s) on the fields of engineering and technology.
  • 10.1Demonstrate an understanding of the different types of social media utilized in market products.
  • 10.2 Evaluate positive and appropriate utilization of social media in the workplace.
  • 10.3 Employ open communication through social media applications as a medium across multiple platforms.
  • 10.4 Investigate the impact(s) of various uses of social media (e.g., positive, negative, intended, unintended, etc.).
  • 10.5 Explain aggregate data collected from researched social media platforms.
 
LEARNING TARGETS

  • Provide 3-5 examples of social media use in the workplace. 
  • Choose 3 areas related to engineering and  technology and explain the impacts of social media - positive, negative, intended, unintended.

REQUIREMENTS
Create a Google Slides that contains the following information in the order below.  Your reference should be listed under each section of information (if you don’t have a valid reference, the information will for that section will not count):
  • Define Social Media and list examples. 
  • How is social media used in marketing products?
  • Provide an example of appropriate utilization of social media in the workplace.
  • How can communication be used across multiple platforms of social media?  Provide an example.
  • Explain the impacts of at least 3 types of social media including at least one example of each of these: (e.g., positive, negative, intended, unintended impacts).
  • Define aggregate data.  How is aggregate data from social media used?
  • Explore the use of social media and other 21st century technologies/  List their impact(s) on the fields of engineering and technology.
  • Copy and paste the scoring rubric into the end of your project score yourself.
